Nigel Rees

Nigel Rees

Managing Director

Before founding Indianic Group in 2005, Nigel spent five years working as a commercial diver with Aqualib Marine and Australian Mooring Services (TAMS).

Over the past 20+ years, he has successfully built Indianic Group into the respected and highly sought-after company it is today. During this time, Nigel has leveraged his extensive industry experience, strong professional network, and tertiary qualifications in Agribusiness to drive sustainable business growth while delivering valued outcomes for clients in the diving and marine construction sectors.

Nigel is widely recognised across Australia for his expertise in commercial diving, moorings, navigation aids and markers, and complex vessel salvage operations.

Director

Dyon has been consulting with Indianic Group since mid-2024, contributing at both strategic and operational levels. He is highly regarded within the Australian marine construction sector, largely due to his 17+ years with TAMS Group Australia, including more than five years as Managing Director.

Dyon holds a Bachelor of Science in Aquatic Resources and Fisheries Management and is also the Owner and Managing Director of Wildsea Fisheries Pty Ltd. As a seasoned executive with a proven track record in developing and executing forward-thinking business strategies, he provides strong leadership and guidance across all areas of the Indianic Group.

Jake Zimmerman

Marine Operations Manager

Jake began his diving career in New Zealand, where he trained in Commercial Diving and Underwater Construction at the New Zealand School of Commercial Diving. A qualified ADAS Part III Diver, Supervisor, and Dive Medical Technician (DMT), he has worked extensively across Australia and New Zealand in commercial diving, marine construction, and vessel management.

Jake joined Indianic Group as a Commercial Diver in 2017 and was quickly promoted to Dive Supervisor, followed by Dive Superintendent in 2023. He advanced to his current role in early 2026. In addition to his operational duties, Jake leads Indianic’s business development efforts and maintains key relationships across the defence sector and broader industry.

Brendan Smith

Dive Superintendent / Security Officer

Brendan, originally from Broome, Western Australia, is a career commercial diver and maritime professional. He began his career in the mid-1990s as a commercial diver with Paspaley Pearling, where he progressed to the role of Pearl Diving Manager before joining Indianic Group in early 2019.

At Indianic, Brendan is responsible for crew scheduling and managing the company’s diving accreditation system, in addition to serving as the Defence Security Officer

Finance & Office Manager

Philippa joined Indianic Group in 2017 as Financial Controller, bringing extensive experience from senior accounting and project roles with international engineering and construction firms, including Trac Oil and Gas Pty Ltd, Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants Pty Ltd, and EM&I (Australia) Pty Ltd.

With a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Philippa has progressed within Indianic to oversee project performance tracking, purchasing, accounts, payroll, and the management of IT and business systems.

She is dedicated to driving operational efficiency and supporting sustainable growth across the organisation.

Andrew Simpson

HSEQ Superintendent

Andrew brings extensive experience to his role as HSEQ Superintendent at Indianic Group, supported by a distinguished 12-year career as a Clearance Diver in the Royal Australian Navy and more than five years with the Special Operations Group of the Department of Justice. He also holds Diplomas in HSEQ, Leadership, and Project Management.

Since joining Indianic from Luerssen Australia in mid-2025, Andrew has taken responsibility for the company’s ISO compliance program as well as its HSEQ operations. Working closely with fellow operations leaders, he leads Indianic’s dive and construction teams in driving safety improvements and advancing system maturity.

Delcan Tyrell

Declan Tyrrell

Workshop and Maintenance Manager

Declan, one of our longest-serving employees with over 10 years at Indianic Group, is widely recognised internationally for his expertise in dive equipment maintenance and optimisation. Originally from the UK, he began his recreational diving and instructing career in the mid-1990s, progressively transitioning over the following decade into the more technical and engineering aspects of both recreational and commercial diving.

He subsequently spent 12 years as a senior dive technician and maintenance manager with Bell Scuba, James Fisher Australia, and Neptune Diving and ROV Services. In these roles, alongside his technical responsibilities, he developed and delivered industry-recognised VET training programs.

In addition to his diving and dive technician qualifications, Declan holds certifications in Training and Assessment, Hyperbaric Chamber Operations, and Vessel Maintenance.
